History

Joan School of Nursing traces its history back to 2012, when a group of nurses came together with a vision of establishing a private nursing training institution in Kisumu. The initiative was driven by the growing demand for nursing education and the limited capacity of existing training institutions to accommodate aspiring nurses.

The need for more qualified nurses was particularly evident in Kisumu following the challenges experienced during the 2007/2008 clashes, when some patients were left unattended in hospital wards due to the shortages of nursing personnel.
In response to these challenges, the founders established Joan School of Nursing to provide opportunities for students from Kisumu and the surrounding communities to pursue nursing education and contribute to improving healthcare services within the region.

The first group of students was admitted in 2014. Since then, Joan School of Nursing has continued its commitment to nursing education and the development of competent nurses capable of providing quality patient care. �
